Semanat is used for chronic weight management in adults. It is prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to help achieve and maintain weight loss in patients with obesity or those who have weight-related health conditions.
Semanat contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a natural hormone responsible for regulating appetite and digestion.
It helps reduce calorie intake by slowing gastric emptying, increasing feelings of fullness, and decreasing hunger and food cravings, thereby supporting weight loss.
Promotes long-term weight management when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and physical activity, helping patients achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.
Improves metabolic health by aiding in better blood sugar control, lowering cholesterol levels, and reducing blood pressure in patients with obesity or overweight.
Reduces cardiovascular risk by lowering the chance of major heart-related events (such as heart attack or stroke) in adults with established heart disease who are overweight or obese.
In some cases, Semanat may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, or altered taste.
Semanat should also not be used during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or in children under 12 years of age. The pen contains 4 doses, designed to provide coverage for an entire month since it is administered once weekly.
Storage:
Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight
What if I have taken an overdose of Semanat:
An overdose may lead to severe nausea, vomiting, or low blood sugar levels. In case of overdose, patients must be closely monitored for symptoms, and appropriate supportive treatment should be given.
Drug Warnings:
Do not use Semanat if you or a close family member has ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), or if you have ever experienced a severe allergic reaction to semaglutide or any of its ingredients.
If you have or have ever had pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas), gallbladder problems or gallstones, kidney disease, severe digestive issues like gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying), diabetic eye disease (retinopathy), or any mental health concerns such as depression or suicidal thoughts.
Inform about every medicine, vitamin, or herbal supplement you are taking, as Semanat may change how other medicines are absorbed. For instance, using Semanat with insulin or sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar, so your doctor may need to adjust other treatments.
Do not use Semanat if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Stop the medicine at least 2 months before trying to conceive due to its long-lasting effect in the body. If you find out you are pregnant while using Semanat , stop it immediately.
Semanat is not recommended for children under 12 years old, because its safety has not been fully established.
Do not use Semanat if you experience any severe or persistent side effects, such as ongoing stomach pain (which may signal pancreatitis), signs of an allergic reaction (swelling, rash, difficulty breathing), severe vomiting or diarrhoea leading to dehydration, or mood changes such as depression or suicidal thoughts.
